CABLE RF DESIGN ENGINEER
Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The implementation of 5G and future generations of mobile networks continues requiring new technologies to improve both coverage and capacity of the RF systems. The Cable RF Design Engineer is an integral part of the Engineering team and is responsible for researching and designing new RF cable products including, but not limited to, foam coaxial cables, air-dielectric cables, RF leaky cables and cable accessories to support the evolution of all types of RF networks. The on-site position reports directly to the R & D Manager, RFS Technologies, Inc. in Meriden, CT USA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Technical management of R&D projects with respect to leaky cables and related accessories
  • Creation of electrical, mechanical, and environmental specifications for leaky cables and accessories
  • Researching of tools and technologies needed to design, manufacture and test new leaky cables.
  • Development of leaky cables according to customer requirements and market needs
  • Working side-by-side with internal cross-functional team to transfer new leaky cable designs to manufacturing environment and set up all needed processes to make new cables
  • Working with sales team, product line manager and customers on various pre-sales and post-sales customer support activities
  • Support of factory acceptance tests required by customers
  • Looking for continuous improvement of product design for the sake of cost and efficiencies.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Proven track-record in RF cable designs
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in development of radiating elements and array antennas, preferably radiating cable products
  • Familiar with RF coaxial cables, leaky cables, and cable applications in today’s RF networks
  • Experienced in using RF field simulation software like CST, HFSS or similar development tools
  • Familiar with RF measurement equipment, tools, and test standard
  • Creative and open-minded
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization. Good communication and presentation skills
  • Customer-oriented
  • Familiarity with SAP/PDM tools is preferred

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Electrical Engineering

CABLE PRODUCTION OPERATOR
Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Cable Production Operator will be part of the Cable Manufacturing group working on Third Shift and responsible for various duties which may include insulation extrusion, welding/corrugation (Uniwema), jacketing extrusion, and cable testing.  The operator will start with one main job function in one of the areas listed above, and through cross training and development will progress to a multifunctional operator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Process cable raw materials through various cable production operations to create a cable finished good with the use of construction sheets, machine setup sheets, and other process procedures.
  • Observe equipment and cable during operation to assure quality production to applicable specifications.
  • Operate material handling equipment to move work in process, raw materials, load, and unload payoff and/or take-ups as necessary for aspects related to the process.
  • Perform various hand operations necessary to the operation and maintenance of the production equipment and associated tooling.
  • Use O.D. tape, micrometer, and vernier caliper to check material periodically during operation and maintain required production records.
  • Use electronic testing equipment to evaluate the electrical performance of the cable products.
  • Detect faulty operations of equipment and defective material.
  • Follow all applicable safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Perform other similar and related duties, operate, or assist in the operation of other department equipment as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Previous machine operation experience is preferred with 2 to 5 years industrial / construction equipment set-up and operation. 
  • Requires the use of shop mathematics with the application and understanding of complicated specifications, tables, and the use of various precision measuring instruments.
  • The use of judgement to plan, perform and make decisions within the limits of recognized methods and procedures.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma/GED
